What you will learn

An end-to-end approach to organisation design

The questions to ask and influence leaders

The importance of designing around value

The module in short

Delivered virtually, the two days are based on proven, practical, and powerful approach to systematically designing organisations. Whilst simultaneously engaging stakeholders in owning the change, thereby enabling necessary new behaviours and ways of working to emerge.

The module will include practical hands on experiential learning, light touch teaching, and peer discussions. To support the reflectors and non-native English speakers pre-readings will be provided in advance in preparation for the programme and daily discussions.

  • Day 1 The day will begin with an overview of organisation design, giving people a chance to understand the end-to-end framework and to identify their strengths and opportunities for growth.      Based on a pre-shared case study we will dive into the diagnostic stage to explore various diagnostic models but focus on The Tricord. The Tricord will then be applied to the case study to consider the case organisation holistically. Design criteria will be developed for the case organisation before evolving the case organisations design from the bottom up, organising around value.

  • Day 2 On day 2 we will continue our exploration of the design stage by exploring target operating models and designing the organisation from the top down. Through the case studies and participants own experiences we will explore and agree coordinating mechanisms for the case organisation. After lunch we will apply the Conner Commitment Model for change before exploring and applying the 9 Tests of Good Organisation Design to your own or your clients organisation to identify opportunities for improvement / redesign.
